On the World's Five Richest Men Doubling their Wealth

Early this year, variations of the same headline appeared in multiple publications: World's Five Richest Men Have Doubled their Wealth since 2020. Meanwhile, as the OxFam report which broke this news pointed out, their dramatic increase in wealth was far from a rising tide that lifted all boats, coinciding instead with a reduction in the combined wealth of the world's poorest 60% (nearly 5 billion people) over the same period.

If that doesn't sit well with you, you're not alone. In fact, there will be a few hundred others gathering at The University of Vermont on May 31 to share ideas and strategies for ways that companies can build the wealth of all employees through employee ownership. For example, our workshop, Paying Ourselves: Designing Pay Scales in Cooperative Businesses, will discuss a variety of approaches to compensation for worker co-ops, while our session, Unpacking the Black Box: What Can I Do to Impact the Value of My ESOP Account, will explore what employee owners at ESOP companies can do to grow their wealth for the future. See the full agenda here for a look at the complete list of this year's sessions.

Whether you're thinking about employee ownership for your business, work at or lead an employee-owned company, or simply care about broad-based ownership of Vermont businesses, this event is for you. Registration will be closing on May 24 this year, so don't hesitate to get your tickets!
