Birdseye began as a partnership of residential builders in 1984. Since then, the group has created a strong company culture, has grown and adjusted to market needs, and today employs 76 Vermonters.

Birdseye operates as six business divisions: building and construction, architecture and design, sitework (excavation and site development), woodworking, property services, and metalwork.

In 2005, Birdseye became 100% employee-owned by selling the company to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. There is no action or cost required from employees to join and participate in the ESOP program, and the benefit cannot be taken away.

Due to its strong culture of cultivating leadership and acting like owners, Birdseye has low rates of turnover and attrition. The company remained strong during the recession of 2007-2009 as well throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
